How to Make a Cat Tree

Cat trees can be built in different shapes and sizes and customized for your cat.  The first step in making a cat tree is to plan it. Planning considerations include size, cost and special customizations.  Also decide if it will be free-standing, attached to a wall, or a floor to ceiling model.

Next, decide what materials will be needed including lumber, carpet, rope or cat toys and plywood for platforms.

Cat trees can be covered with different materials. Carpet is the most commonly used, with the posts of the cat tree being covered with sisal rope. Browse retail pet stores for ideas.
